What is a creed?

A creed is a statement of belief or principles, usually in the form of a brief, succinct statement. Creeds are frequently used in religion to express core tenets of faith, but they can also be used in other areas, such as politics or philosophy. Creeds may be formal or informal, and may be adopted by individuals or organizations as a way of expressing shared values or goals. Some well-known examples of creeds include the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the United States Declaration of Independence.
